Abstract

This work aims to analyse and reflect on the profile of the Social Educator as a socio-educational professional in a globalized context, characterized by a notable loss of social rights and an increase in inequalities. To do so, a theoretical analysis is carried out that examines the three elements involved: European citizenship and its position within the common project, the meaning of reconstruction, and the role of the Social Educator in this whole scenario marked by an identity crisis in Europe and of the European Union as one cause, among others, of the detachment large part of the citizens feel towards them. In this regard, citizens are considered as the main actors of change and their recovery is advocated, in which the social educator will not only participate as a transforming agent but as a vehicle for recognition and empowerment of individuals as protagonists.
