School Management and National Development: A case study on democratic management at Casa do Sol School (Farim, Guinea-Bissau)
Main Article Content
Abstract
School management is a process intrinsically associated with the integration and interaction of the community with the administration, influencing decision-making regarding the institution's operations. This paper analyzes the management of the Casa do Sol School in the city of Farim, and its importance for the development of Guinea-Bissau. The research focuses on analyzing how the participatory management structure of Casa do Sol School impacts national development through citizen training and the promotion of socioeconomic stability in the Farim region. Methodologically, the research is descriptive, based on a mixed approach (quantitative and qualitative). Data collection was performed through bibliographic research, direct observations, and interviews. The relevance of this study lies in the need to improve management practices and make the educational community aware that the school is a common heritage, and not the exclusive property of the administration or teaching staff. The results reveal that the Casa do Sol School adopts an autonomous, participatory, and democratic management model. It is concluded that the institution actively contributes to the development of Guinea-Bissau through the creation of jobs for the active population and the training of qualified and worthy citizens, capable of intervening positively in society.
